The Insomniacs, Spanking Charlene and The Doughboys Instead of a School Event

Once again, Randy Now did it again! This time it was for his GARAGE A GOGO WEEKEND held on September 18th and 19th, 2015.Randy Now Garage A GoGo Weekendat The Open Arts Stage Theater in Bordentown was rocking to three incredible bands. The first night was The Insomniacs, Spanking Charlene and The Doughboys. The second night was The Droogettes, Sorala, Palmyra Delran and The Grip Weeds. I wasn’t able to make it the second night though 🙁

I was a torn about letting my daughter attend Bingo Night at her school or come with me to the concert. At her elementary school, Bingo Night was my committee that I would help out with and run. But this night was something that I wanted to go to, and I thought, you know what? She’s really into The Doughboys, and she’ll love the other two bands. I decided to bring her with me, and her other two friends were helping their dad in the back too. And guess what?  THEY.LOVED.EVERYONE.

First up was The Insomniacs,  are from NJ and WOW!!!! Check out their new vinyl single here. And look for their album on iTunes -Just Enjoy It!

Then came Spanking Charlene from NYC. The girls were super impressed with the lead singer, a powerful woman. They LOVED her! Check out their album Where are The Freaks.

Then came The Doughboys! Plus Myke Scavone was about to go on tour with The Yardbirds in October and November 2015, so that was pretty exciting. Now he had something in common with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Paige. The Doughboys have been covering songs by The Yardbirds for a long time. I wish that I could’ve seen one of those shows.

My daughter and her friends had a very good time, might I even say epic? They were so impressed with seeing a strong woman singing and wanted to meet her, and got to get their pictures taken. This to me and my friends, who were the other parents there, agreed, gave our girls an education into music and culture that was different than the norm.

As always, I want to thank these bands, The Open arts Stage and to Randy Now at Randy Now’s Man Cave located right here in Bordentown, NJ. If it were for Randy, then none of these act would in such a great venue like this in our little town.  Love you Randy!!!!!

The Pink Mile

UPDATE: The dear sweet woman for whom this glorious event this was for, has passed away this evening, November 21, 2015. As you read this post and view these images, please think of her, her family,  friends and the community.  I met Kelly for a brief moment, and seeing how much she was loved, the photos on her Facebook profile, made me smile. Say a prayer, or a special thought for them all. From what I understand, these photos brought much comfort and joy to them, and I say to, that the honor was all mine. Please leave a lovely comment for the her family and her friends. Thank you everyone.

Our community does a lot of wonderful things for people. A woman, a daughter, a sibling, a wife, and a mother, has cancer, and is fighting hard. She just came home from the hospital. Battling cancer for 7+ years is hard. I don’t know her, but I want to now. My friend contacted me, because she put together a last minute fundraiser to help the family with meals and money to get through these days.

We met at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Bordentown Township, NJ. They walked a half mile to their home, and then another half mile back to the starting point, this included members of her family, including her mother. What transpired was amazing.   ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography1 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography2 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography3 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography4

I got up on a very tall ladder and with the help of others, arranged all of these people and children into one large group photo.

The balloons were placed on their front lawn.

I was more towards the back of the walkers, but as you can see, the love of people towards the family was true.ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography13ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography12 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography14 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography15 ThePinkMile_TeamKelly_DeirdreRyanCommercialandEditorialPhotography16

Our adult choir lost a dear friend, a fierce, fun loving, full of life woman last week. Today is her viewing, and tomorrow, we are going to sing her funeral Mass. It’s going to be so hard. So, I needed this event, and I know my friend was looking down on me yesterday, I can’t explain it, I just know it. Thank you everyone for letting me be a part of something truly wonderful.

Uncle Floyd and Les The Mentalist Perform In Bordentown, NJ

Acts like these are getting fewer and fewer, so when you see a show that reads Uncle Floyd with Special Guest Les The Mentalist, then you should buy a ticket, bring friends and see the show.

Randy Now hosted the performance at the Open Arts Stage in Bordentown, NJ on May 16, 2015.

The first act was Les the Mentalist, and what he does is help bend the way your brain perceives things, he makes you think and is really damn funny too. Truly Les’s act is one to catch!

After Les The Mentalist’s act was Uncle Floyd! If you’re from New Jersey growing up, you’ll remember him from his tv, The Uncle Floyd Show  I remember watching this on UHF channel 48 I “think”….closer to NYC in Northern NJ it was on another UHF channel. But Uncle Floyd is a vaudeville comedienne, who is also a fantastic piano player. (A little known fact about myself, I’m a classically train pianist, so when I hear someone who’s good, I mention it, because it’s literally a joy to my ears.)

Myself and the audience were laughing so hard we were crying, we had such a great time! People, you really need to see Uncle Floyd live in person. lesthementalistunclefloyd87 lesthementalistunclefloyd100 lesthementalistunclefloyd107 lesthementalistunclefloyd122 lesthementalistunclefloyd128 lesthementalistunclefloyd138 lesthementalistunclefloyd142

The Annual Bordentown Township Fish Derby

On July 4th, 2014 at Northern Community park in Bordentown Township, the Annual Fish Derby began at 9Am for Registration and fishing started at 10AM-12PM. Trophies were awarded at noon for the “Largest Fish Caught”. The pond was stocked by the NJ State Fish and Wildlife.

For a while the fish were not biting because the barometric pressure was too low. This meant to the fish that it was going to rain or storm, so they stayed closer to the bottom. Then suddenly towards the near end of the event, the fish started to bite as the afternoon weather became clearer and warmer.

The Foundation for Bordentown Traditions is a non-profit started by members of the community. They were organized to plan, develop, organize and fund community events in Bordentown. It is their goal that these events will raise funds to bring back the Fireworks. I am proud to also be a volunteer member of this organization.

The 2nd Annual Bordentown 5K Turkey Trot and Family Fun Walk was in Bordentown Township on Saturday Nov. 23, 2013. The event was put together by Foundation for Bordentown Traditions. The event had approximately 400 participants, (last year was 204).

I saw a lot of friends running that day, it was a great event.
